Together Again: Live Jazz and Lively Connections in Washington, DC

Our 5th Annual Jazz in June event was held last week in Washington, DC. Thank you to all who joined us at The Hamilton in DC or supported the event from afar. It was our first live event since the pandemic began and featured an evening of incredible jazz music from The Eric Byrd Trio, appetizers and drinks, a silent auction, and more. The Eric Byrd Trio - comprised of pianist/vocalist Eric Byrd, bassist Bhagwan Khalsa, and drummer Alphonso Young, Jr. - have spent more than two decades traveling the world as enthusiastic ambassadors of jazz, and they’ve been headliners of our annual DC event since our first Jazz in June back in 2018.

You can catch the highlights in the above video and see photos from the event below.

Event attendees heard from Lori Ring, a Children’s Cancer Cause board member with over twenty years of experience as a Capitol Hill staffer.

“When you’re on the Hill and groups come to you and they want something from you, you always wonder ‘who are they, what’s their motive, what’s their reputation?’” Lori said. “And the Children’s Cause has always had a stellar reputation. We are a nonpartisan organization with one motive and that is to help kids survive cancer. And - when they survive - to be healthy adults and live a long life.”

Thank you to our 2022 Jazz in June sponsors for their support: Pfizer, PhRMA, CareFirst, Exelixis, and Servier. We’re also grateful to the many donors of silent auction items and to those who bid generously on auction items.

Your support enables us to continue the fight for children with cancer, childhood cancer survivors, and their families for improved treatments, more research, and survivorship programs. If you’d like to make a donation while it’s still June - which is also National Cancer Survivor Month! - you can do so here.
